CODeFish received two of the top prizes from the OpenSeaLab partners

The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) is a network of organisations supported by the EU’s integrated maritime policy.
These organisations work together to observe the sea, process the data according to international standards and make that information freely available as interoperable data layers and data products. EMODNet is the gateway to marine data in Europe, and the EMODnet OpenSealab 2019 hackathon was held on September 4-6 in Ghent, Belgium. This was the second OpenSeaLab hackathon arranged by this organization to accelerate innovation based on marine data sets, and for 2019, ICES , Copernicus Marine (CMEMS) and GlobalFishingWatch also joined EMODNet and participated in the event.

DataBio has been represented at both OpenSeaLab events by a SINTEF team of developers, and the 2019 hackathon was particularly successful for DataBio in that team CODeFish received two of the top prizes from the OpenSeaLab partners, Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) and OVH, for the fisheries catch decision support application. Kudos to the CODeFish team from SINTEFfor a great achievement:

  • Per Gunnar Auran
  • Peter Halland Haro
  • Bård Johan Hanssen
  • Øystein Knutsen
  • Torbjørn Vallestad
